She was the daughter of Andrea Gardnera, a housewife who used to work in finance, and Scott Kingsley Swift, a stockbroker. Maternal grandmother, Marjorie Finlay was an opera singer. Swift has one younger brother named Austin.

When Swift was in fourth grade, she won a national poetry contest with a three-page poem entitled "Monster in My Closet". At the age of ten, a computer repairman to show how to play three chords on a guitar sparked his interest to learn the instrument. After that Swift wrote his first song, "Lucky You". [When Swift was 12, he used all his summer vacation time to write a 350 page long novel that was never published. Swift was a victim of bullying, and he spends his spare time writing songs to express his feelings. He also began performing at karaoke contests and local festivals.
